Last weekend this Bowling Green photographer found herself in New York, standing over the incredible Niagara Falls! I stood there and wondered how all those tiny, harmless drops of water could become such a dangerous and powerful force.
The day was a bit chilly when the sun hid behind the clouds, but we made the most of it and really enjoyed the sight! My husband and I were in the Buffalo area visiting my grandmother. We decided to take an afternoon, all three of us, and visit the falls. Walking through Niagara Falls State Park brought occasional surprise showers of mist. We thought it was raining but quickly realized that is was merely the falls sending spray!
Despite having family nearby, I have not been to Niagara Falls in over 10 years. I really did not remember much about the park or the view so it was great to refresh my memory! The falls are not technically on the list of "Seven Natural Wonders of the World" but some argue that Niagara should be named the eighth wonder.
Not only is the nature a wonder, but I found the diversity of its visitors to be an amazing sight! We walked through the park and heard many different languages. We saw multiple cultures represented by their clothing and style. It is truly an amazing idea that so many very different people find value in the same thing. We all had gathered together for the same reason. To see a gorgeous work of natural art.
Though I know my camera can never create an image that fully embodies the true beauty of the falls, I hope you can look at the photos and have a new appreciation for this wonder!
