Finnegan the Great Dane. Toledo Pet Photography. Sylvania Photo Studio.
I decided that I needed to show off my new Toledo photography studio space by finding a pup to model for me. I would typically describe myself as an all-or-nothing, go-big-or-go-home type of person. So I found the biggest dog I could. I brought in a Great Dane.
I had met Finn as an eight week old puppy (about 120lbs ago). He was one of the first puppies I ever photographed. Obviously I have to share a puppy photo so you can see just how much things change.
Big changes! Finn’s owner, Fiona, answered some questions so that we can get to know this handsome boy and his story a little bit better. Don’t forget to give him some love in the comments!
About Finnegan and Fiona:
Where did you get him? Finn was a gift from my friends the Galens family. But my best friend Marquita actually whelped him, chose him for us, and drove him from Ohio-> Portland, OR.
How old was he when you brought him home? 12 weeks old and already 15lbs.
How did you choose his name? We really wanted an old man name, we had decided on Winston and then somehow ended and Finnegan, because we wanted a short one syllable nick name for training.
How old is he now? He was three on Nov 30th!
What 3 words would you use to describe his personality? Joyful, snuggly, and curious.
What is his favorite toy? Right now it’s his “pumpkin spice latte” cup stuffie, but he’s always excited about an antler to chew on.
What do you enjoy doing together? He loves snuggling under blankets tucked in like a person and going on walks.
A favorite memory of him or a hard time that he helped you get through? We took him to the ocean when he was about 13 weeks old and he was fine with the water but any time a wave with the foam would come to the shore/toward him he would run away and be so scared. He got a little more brave until a wave capsized him and then he ran for the shore and didn’t look back.
Why is it meaningful to have professional images of him? Finn has taught me so much in such a short time, I have so much trust and faith in our friendship that I want to have him with me forever. That’s not possible, except now I have captured how special our relationship is together and can always have that. Even when I’m old I can look back and see the dog that taught me how to love unconditionally and infinitely.
What stood out to you about your experience with Rebecca? I’ve worked with other photographers and dogs, but Rebecca is special. She connects and cares for every creature and they sense it. She works to create an experience that’s joyful for you and your pet. Whether it’s a family photo or a solo shoot, Rebecca will capture stunning images.
All photos were taken at the Rebecca Trumbull Photography Photo Studio in Sylvania Township.
