Kio Maternity Photos. Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Kerri is one of my best friends. We lived together for four years in college. We stood up in each other's weddings, and we have maintained our friendship, despite living 400 miles apart. It has been exciting to see my best friend grow as a person, get married and now start another new chapter.

Kerri and her husband, Jordan, are expecting their first child this Christmas. They are very excited about welcoming a little girl into their lives. Kerri and Jordan are two of the most generous and loving people I know. I am positive that they will show their baby all the magical things life has to offer.

I was sadly unable to make it to Kerri's baby shower but we planned a trip for me to come a different weekend to take maternity portraits for them. Below is a blessing I wrote for Kerri to be read to her at her baby shower:

“My dearest Kerri. I still remember the first day we met. I wondered if we would get along, if we would have anything in common, if we would have the same friends. Now I can’t imagine life without you as my friend. We have lived so much together... so many new experiences! We made new friends, we learned how to balance life and homework... most of the time. We fell in love and we had our hearts broken at least a couple times along the way. But we got to see happily ever after for both of us in the end. And now you get to take the next step in your adventure! You get to become a mom!

Due to the fact that you were always babysitting small children, I think I have always seen mother attributes in you. You told many stories that reflect a passion for nurturing. You helped babies learn sign langue and first words. You encouraged many kids to eat their veggies and try new things. That isn’t the only way I saw your motherly character though. I saw it in your relationship with everyone you love. You give endlessly! You would give more than you are even capable if only someone asked. You devote time and heart without reservation. These are all things I think of when I think of a mother.

I could write a million words and never truly express how much our relationship means to me and how proud I am of you everyday. You have overcome terribly hard things while still maintaining a soft and open heart. I admire you! And I am sure I will admire the mother you will soon become!
