Why are professional photos important to you? “Although it’s easy to get decent photos with modern technology, even for amateurs, we wanted this moment to be captured by a professional. True editing experience, experience with framing shots, and locations, etc. Those are things that we can’t really do on our own.”

Why did you include your dog, Ryder, in your photos? Ryder is our family! He will be 2 on August 1st, 2020 and he is a labradoodle. It’s honestly hard to remember what our life was like before we got him. He’s kind of been like our baby before we have a human baby, as he’s helped facilitate communication and responsibility. Having him has been a little bit of a warmup for parenting. We also include him in all of our vacation plans and try to take him with us when we go places if he’s allowed. So, when I thought about getting some maternity photos taken, we of course wanted to include him.
It was clear when we met that Rosie has quickly attached herself to Stephanie. She wanted to be close to her at all times. I have heard that when a woman becomes pregnant, sometimes dogs know. They become more protective and attentive to the expecting mama. Isn’t nature so amazing?
Wildwood Metropark is one of my regular locations. Many local photographers enjoy its variety and natural beauty when photographing local families. There is a covered area that offers shelter, while still being able to see nature all around. I decided to place the Mutgi family in the perfect spot to show off the fall colors behind them. You can almost count the raindrops in the images. A brave Toledo family and a creative local photographer were able to make this yucky day a success. These rainy portraits could not have turned out any better!
Kerri and her husband, Jordan, are expecting their first child this Christmas! They are very excited about welcoming this little girl into their lives. Kerri and Jordan are some of the most generous and loving people I know and I am positive that they will show their baby all the magical things life has to offer.
I always ask my clients how they feel in front of the camera before I start a photography shoot. Are you nervous? Are you comfortable? This helps me to know how to lead their session and how to help them enjoy their experience.
I asked Emily how they were preparing Maci for the baby and she said, "We let her sniff the baby things and play with the things we will be using for her and leaving them out for her to get comfortable around". It sounds like they have a good plan to make the transition comfortable for everyone!
We are glad to see Emily and Damon happy, with a healthy baby on the way! Best of luck to you both in this new adventure! Enjoy these photos from their Maternity Session at Providence Park in Grand Rapids, Ohio!
