It's a Boy! Oak Openings Gender Reveal. Toledo Maternity Photography.

Stephanie and Justin are expecting their first baby in February. We scheduled to take some portraits of them with their dog, Rosie, and included some gender reveal photos. Stephanie and Justin had not yet found out the gender of their baby so we set up photos for both boy and girl. There were pink balloons and blue balloons so that they could use either one for the announcement. We also did some creative blue and pink lighting which you can see in a photo below.

As a pet photographer, I always adore when my clients bring their dogs. Rosie is a very important member of the family and they could not imagine doing their photos without her. Rosie was Justin’s dog before he and Stephanie began dating. It was clear when we met that Rosie has quickly attached herself to Stephanie. She wanted to be close to her at all times. I have heard that when a woman becomes pregnant, sometimes dogs know. They become more protective and attentive to the expecting mama. Isn’t nature so amazing?

Get to know Stephanie, Justin and Rosie:

How did you two meet? We met online on an app called Hinge. We both just tried the app for the heck of it not thinking anything would come from it. He told me that he didn’t think he’d have a chance with me but that he’d try anyway. But I thought he was the cutest little thing!
What do you do? What does Justin do? I’m a graduate student at Bowling Green for criminal justice and Justin is a student at EMU and Washtenaw for engineering. I also work full time for Hertz rental car.
What is something that makes your relationship unique or special? If you’d ask Justin what’s something that makes this special he’d say me. I’d say how easy it is to be with him. And probably how much we dedicate to each other. He would drive almost an hour and half just to see me. And I’d do that same.
What is the name/age/breed of your dog? Rosie she’s 4 and she’s a husky, Arctic wolf, timber wolf, malamute with a tiny German Sheppard.
How would you describe her personality? She’s WILD. Loyal and protective. She’s definitely a daddy’s dog. Although she’s quite stubborn.
What things do the three of you love to do together? We take her on walks, she loves going to Cabela’s! We teach her new tricks all the time! She’s can’t stand being away from us so we usually take her everywhere. Her other favorite place is the pet store!
What made you decide to include her in your gender reveal photos? We love her. With all our heart. She’s our child. She’s definitely part of the family.
What stood out to you about your experience working with Rebecca as your photographer? Rebecca is very personable and super sweet! She actually listened to what we wanted and worked with us. She’s very patient!
