Nick and Kristina had a beautiful winter wedding in Toledo on December 21st. The ceremony took place at Christ the King Catholic church and the reception was held at the Nederhouser Community Hall at Olander Park in Sylvania. In between, we stopped at the Toledo Botanical Gardens for some wedding portraits and bridal party photos. It was a 50 degree day but we were lucky enough to find a tiny bit of snow lingering on the ground. Ohio is truly the land of strange weather combinations and it actually worked out perfectly for us!

Get to know the bride and groom:

  • How long were you engaged? One year on our wedding date.

  • How did you meet? Match.com.

  • What is the favorite/best date you’ve been on together? Our second date. We started at Dave and Buster’s, had dinner and played games until about 10:30. Then we kept the date going and went across the street to Nick and Jimmy’s and stayed there until about 2 am.

  • Who proposed and how? Per Kristina, “Ughhhh not a pretty story on my part. Nick had a whole plan put together for before Christmas. He had pre-wrapped a Red Wings jersey with his last name embroidered on the back. The idea was that I’d open it, see the name on the back, and he would ask if I would like to have that name too. Cute right? The problem is, I’m one of those weird people who like the look of wrapped gifts under the tree. Here’s how it really happened…

I’m sitting on the couch recovering from foot surgery. Nick asked if I would like to open a present early. I looked at him like he was crazy and said no. He asked if I was sure, and I insisted that I could wait. He gets up, walks over to the tree, grabs the present and says just open this one. I opened it, happy to have a Red Wings jersey (we both like hockey). He told me to turn it around and then asked what I thought of the name. I told him that it was nice, but it was his last name. He was then on one knee asking me to marry him. Cute story, but I totally bumbled it!”

  • What was your favorite part of your wedding day? Walking into the reception and seeing all of our friends and family who came to celebrate with us.

  • What stood out to you about your experience working with Rebecca? “You were like a ninja. And every time we were thinking about ‘man I wish Rebecca was here to take this photo’ you already were.”

I truly enjoyed documenting this Toledo couple’s wedding day! If you or someone you know is seeking a wedding photographer, please contact me to discuss 2020 and 2021 dates.
