King and Danielle. Toledo, Ohio Pet Photography.
Bully breeds have a special place in my heart. Beatrice was the first bully in my life. She is a mastiff mix, likely some pit bull or other bully variation in there. We adopted Beatrice two and a half years ago and she has become an irreplaceable part of our family. All dog breeds have pros and cons to their personalities. All breeds have positive character traits and some traits that can be difficult to manage. I believe that every potential dog owner should spend a lot of time researching the breeds to find out if that specific kind will be the right fit for their family. The more I get to work with dogs, I come to appreciate their diversity and really cool personalities.
Danielle contacted me about having some photos done of her and her dog, King. Danielle struggles with some really tough physical and mental health issues. She told me how King has stepped up to assist her in so many ways. King steps in when she has panic attacks and helps to snap Danielle out of the anxiety. He also helps to remind her to take her medication and he is by her side every moment of her day. King was genetically tested and it turns out he is part pit bull and part bull mastiff. He definitely got the size and looks more from his pit bull genes but some of his personality really did reflect the mastiff side. King is loyal and would give his life to protect his family.
It was such an honor to document the special bond that King and Danielle have. King is a very handsome boy. I am going to let Danielle tall you a little bit more about him:
Where did you get him? “I got him in Beaver, Ohio. Southern Ohio.”
How old was he when you brought him home? “He was 6 months old when I got King.”
How did you choose his name? “He named himself. His name was Sampson but i tried naming him Crunch. He would mean mug me so I thought of King . I called him King and he loved that name. He chose his own name.”
How old is he now? “He is 5 now. His birthday is March 17.”
What 3 words would you use to describe his personality? “Stubborn, protective and emotional.”
What do you enjoy doing together? “We enjoy going to the reservoir and letting him run without being on a leash. He can run free and he loves it sooo very much.”
Any additional cute facts? “He loves to hug me.”
Tell me about your special fluffs in the comments!
